Nordic Air

Nordic Air is our own yarn brand. The yarn is spun from Finnish sheep, a native Finnish breed and a true national treasure, whose wool is almost as soft as merino wool but more durable.

The yarn is Aran-weight, two-ply, loosely twisted, making it light, soft, and fluffy. You can use this yarn instead of Lettlop, for example, if Icelandic wool feels too coarse against your skin. Nordic Air is also well-suited for use in place of blown yarns such as Sandnes Garn Kos or Camaros Snefnug. Using large 6–7 mm needles, you’ll get a light and super-soft knit that practically flies off the needles.

The yarn is made primarily from Finnish sheep’s wool or from Finnish sheep crossbreeds whose wool has properties similar to those of Finnish sheep. Nordic Air is also spun and dyed in Finland.

Finnish sheep and Merino sheep are the only sheep breeds in the world whose wool fibers have inward-facing scales—this unique structure makes the wool exceptionally soft without any chemical treatment.
