Untreated wool sock yarn for warm, dry feet

Did you know that most sock yarns are superwash treated to make them machine washable?

This process uses chlorine and plastic coatings, which strip wool of its natural ability to regulate temperature, manage moisture, and recover its shape, making it feel less like wool and more like plastic.

Nordic Sock was created to offer a different kind of sock yarn.

Instead of chemically treating the wool, we use carefully selected Nordic sheep wool that felts poorly by nature. This allows the yarn to remain untreated and breathable, while still being washable in the machine at 40 °C on a wool or gentle cycle.

The result is a sock yarn that:

  • feels warmer on the foot

  • stays dry longer by managing moisture naturally

  • holds its shape and resists stretching

  • needs washing less often thanks to wool’s natural dirt resistance

Nordic Sock has a genuine rustic wool feel — never plasticky. It is spun and dyed in Finland from Finnish sheep wool, and reinforced with a small amount of biodegradable polyamide for durability where socks need it most.

This is wool left as nature intended.
Honest, functional, and made for real use.
