True to its name, Hali is a sweater that feels like a wonderful hug of warmth and softness. With its relaxed fit and stretchy fabric, Hali is a true go-to knit you’ll always want to wrap yourself in. The sweater’s striking saddle shoulders and broken rib stitch pattern are achievable even for less experienced knitters: the pattern includes step-by-step photos and links to technique videos. Knit on large needles using a thick yet lightweight yarn, Hali comes together quickly.

Recommended ease: 15–20 cm of positive ease, so choose a size that is approximately 15–20 cm larger than your bust circumference.

Hali is worked top down in one piece and features saddle shoulders that fall into a relaxed silhouette. The sweater has a semi-high, fairly wide collar, and the surface texture is created using the broken rib stitch technique. While it may look challenging, it is actually quite simple: you alternate between working plain stockinette stitch and 1 knit, 1 purl ribbing on different rows.

The saddle shoulders are shaped with simple increases—first on the front and back pieces, and later on the sleeves. These increases create a beautiful decorative pattern along the shoulders. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up from the body, and the sleeves are worked one at a time. The body is continued in the round to the hem, making the sweater completely seamless.

For the sleeves, you can choose between long ribbed cuffs that are folded double for a polished finish, or shorter cuffs without folding.

Difficulty level: Hali is suitable for knitters familiar with basic knitting techniques.

GAUGE

13 sts x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4″ in stockinette stitch with 7 mm / US 10.75 needles (after blocking). Change the needle size if needed to achieve the right gauge.

The instructions are clear. I used Kos yarn according to the pattern and the gauge matches, but even size M is a bit tight for an S-sized person to my taste—definitely not oversized at all.
